Jan Mayen’s boat sauna is located in the historic captain’s cabin at the stern of the vessel.

Designed with respect for the schooner’s original structures, it combines more than a century of maritime history with a wood-heated IKI stove and Helsinki’s waterfront atmosphere.

This sauna by the sea offers an out-of-the-ordinary sauna experience in Helsinki’s North Harbour. This is not exactly your average sauna – unless your average sauna happens to be aboard a historic sailing ship with a bar on the same deck.

Bar Jan Mayen combines two Finnish favourites: good löyly and good drinks.

Aboard the century-old schooner, you can enjoy a wood-heated public sauna, quality drinks and small savoury dishes at Halkolaituri in Helsinki.

Between rounds in the sauna, simply pop into the onboard bar before returning to the warmth of the IKI stove. There’s no need to bring your own drinks – and you’re not allowed to – as the bar serves sauna guests throughout the session.
